MAKING AN APPOINTMENT
do i have to make an appointment
Our shop is designed to give you the BEST one-on-one experience possible. We do require appointments so that all the attention can be on YOU. Can you imagine trying on a wedding gowns and another bride coming in and trying on gowns next to you? The staff splitting their attention between you and someone else who just decided to stop in? What you’ll notice about Kate’s is that we are different. We are proud of that fact and take your appointment seriously. We want you to have the BEST, most luxurious experience possible because you deserve it. You can make an appointment by CLICKING HERE. We will get back to you within 24-48 hours to confirm your appointment!
How long is my appointment
Our appointments run 60-90 minutes. It is important to arrive on time because there will be appointments after yours. Please call to confirm first before arriving early, as we may be assisting an appointment prior to yours.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?
We are by appointment only. so we are only open when we have brides. We take bridal appointments Monday-Sunday 8:00am to 6:00pm (the last appointment is at 6pm). We do take later appointments for those brides who work late. Please call us to discuss!
DO YOU HAVE A CANCELLATION POLICY?
Yes! We encourage you to give us 48 hours notice to cancel your appointment. Any appointment canceled after the 48 hours will be charged a $25 cancellation fee.
WHY DO YOU TAKE MY CREDIT CARD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
We always put a credit card down to reserve your appointment. We do not charge for appointments. However, if you do not cancel within 48 hours prior to your appointment, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.
What should i bring to my appointment?
We would love to see your dress inspiration pictures you have seen on websites, in magazines, on Pinterest, or dresses you have tried on elsewhere. We love getting to be a part of seeing your vision come alive. We want to remind you to bring an open mind: do not be surprised if you find “the dress” on your first visit to Kate’s Bridal Cottage, or if you find a dress you love that was completely opposite of what you were thinking.
WHO SHOULD I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT
We recommend you bring your rocks and the least amount of people as possible. Think of this…when you and 8 friends are trying to decide on dinner, how often do you ever agree on the same thing? Most of the time, you and your friends don’t necessarily have the same taste in clothes and wedding gowns are no different. So bring your supportive friends, the ones that get you and know you might have a different style and respect that. Don’t bring the critical friends who point out your flaws. We all have that one critical friend. This is a once in a lifetime day where you get to write part of your fairytale wedding story. So bring your cheerleaders who will celebrate you! If you want to show all of your friends your dress after you find “the one” we would love to arrange a time to toast with some champagne.
WHAT PRICE DO YOUR GOWNS START AT?
Our gowns start at $500 to just below $2500. We have an amazing variety of the “creme de la creme” wedding gowns. We chose the best gowns for every price point in our range. The majority of our gowns are between $800-$1600. We encourage you to know your budget before coming in and let us know. We will stick to your price point. If the budget is flexible, let us know that too! We HIGHLY discourage you from trying on gowns outside your budget. There is a reason that one gown is $500 and one is $2500. The quality, the lace, the detail, we don’t want our brides to leave disappointed because they fell in love with a gown out of their range. You won’t find gowns like ours anywhere else in Idaho!
We recommend ordering your gown 8 months to a year before your wedding day and here is why: each designer has different lead times with the average time taking 4-6 months, most gowns have to be altered so you need to account for a couple months of alterations.
WHEN SHOULD I ORDER MY GOWN?
Some designers will allow us to get a loaner gown for an additional price which is passed to you.
WHAT IF YOU CARRY A DESIGNER I LIKE BUT NOT A PARTICULAR GOWN?
WHEN SHOULD I START SHOPPING FOR A GOWN?
You shouldn’t start shopping unless you are willing and able to purchase the gown. The fun part about shopping for your dress is the part where you say yes! If you say “yes to the dress” but aren’t able to pay for it quite yet, it takes away from the special moments that follow (in our store- champagne toast celebration, photos etc). Sometimes gowns get discontinued so if you wait to purchase, it may not be available anymore. At our store if a gown has been purchased several times, we “retire” it so our small community isn’t saturated with the same gown.
WHAT SIZES ARE AVAILABLE TO TRY ON?
Most of our sample dresses are a size 10. Please note that a bridal size 10 is equivalent to a street size 6. Our consultants are experts at clipping and pinning to ensure a great fit. We also carry the largest selection of designer plus-sized samples in size 18-32. Click <here> to view Kleinfeld’s selection of plus-sized gowns.
AM I ALLOWED TO TAKE PICTURES AT MY APPOINTMENT?
Absolutely! But too many photos or Facetiming your friends who couldn’t make it, takes away time from your appointment. 90 minutes seems like a long time, but generally goes quickly. We recommend narrowing it down to your favorites (which you’ll want to try on again anyway) and then taking photos so you can see how it photographs. Don’t forget to use #katesbridalcottage and tag us @katesbridalcottage if you choose to share!
DO YOU CARRY BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES?
We do! We carry Allure Bridesmaids which start at $180. They are beautiful, one of a kind, and luxurious.
DO YOU CARRY MOTHER OF THE BRIDE/GROOM DRESSES?
We do not currently carry mother of the bride/groom dresses, however we do recommend looking through the Allure Bridesmaids gowns online to see if anything catches your eye!
WHEN SHOULD I ORDER MY VAIL/HEADPIECE?
At your first appointment we can start looking for the perfect accessories to fit your style and dress. It ususally takes… amount of time to order in our veils …..
CAN I COMPLETE MY ENTIRE LOOK IN THE FIRST VISIT?
Absolutely!! Many brides who find “the dress” will also find the accessories at their first visit. You will be able to try on veils, headpieces, sashes, and jewelry on your first visit.
BUT I AM GETTING MARRIED IN LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS!
It is not too late to start shopping, but every second counts! We have two options; you can always find a dress off our sample rack or find a designer who can meet your time frame, which could include an additional charge to rush order.
WHAT IS A RUSH ORDER?
A rush order is for a bride who is getting married sooner than our usual time to get your special order in. We will work with the right designers and find you a dress that can be rush ordered for an additional charge. Rush order dresses may come in 1-3 weeks before your wedding date. Your contract will outline the details.
HOW MUCH WILL A RUSH ORDER COST?
Every designer is different, and may vary depending on dress + date.
Fittings + Alterations
ARE ALTERATIONS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE DRESS?
No, 99% of the time, your gown will need to be altered for you. Whether it is hemming it or taking it in somewhere since your size is based on your biggest measurement. Alterations are not offered in house but we have amazing seamstresses we recommend!
WHAT DO I BRING TO MY ALTERATION APPOINTMENT?
Please bring shoes and undergarments you will wear on your wedding day in order to have your dress fitted properly. In the event your dress is not paid for in full please bring your final payment to appointment. Our seamstress will not start alerting your dress until it is paid in full.
Payment + Finances
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY DRESS?
We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa, as well as cash and personal checks. (Personal checks are only accepted for deposit, not final payment.)
DO YOU OFFER MILITARY DISCOUNTS??
YES! With a military ID of you or your fiancé.
*Some designers restrict us from offering discounts.
